NBA Draft Lottery

Posted on May 9, 2019

The NBA draft lottery is for NCAA players and European stars who are looking to take their talents to the next level. This years draft includes 3 unique players who can change the direction of whomever gets lucky with the magic lottery. In this year’s lottery, Zion Williamson is expected to go number 1. Zion has amazing talent and as some scouts same can be the next LeBron James. It is easy to compare players to certain existing talent, but when it comes to Zion the NBA hasn’t really experienced the physicality and talent he has. He has a football player’s body, specifically of a linebacker, but can jump anyone out of the gym with outstanding leaping ability.

The second pick is expected to be JA Morant. This guy can run and take control of any game. He isn’t afraid of the spotlight and is bound to be a future all-star if drafted in the right situation, but what would be the right situation?

JA Morant was not highly recruited into college. He was held off ESPN’s top recruits out of high school. In his first year with Murray State he averages 13 ppg 6 rpg and 6.5 apg. He did not enter the draft after his first season and improved his stats by averaging 24.5 ppg 10 apg and 5.7 rpg

The Phoenix Suns who have been dreaming of having a point guard talent might be the best fit for him. He can possibly lead the Suns back into the playoffs in the next 3 years with amazing talent in Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton. If the Suns were to get lucky and get the second pick, they should be pretty attractive to free agents especially with their new coach Monty Williams.

Monty Williams is respected in the NBA. He was a player for the Knicks, Spurs, Nuggets, Magic and Sixers. Also, Monty has coached several teams Trail blazers (assistant), Pelicans, Thunder (assistant), and 76ers (assistant). Although his career as a head coach lasted only 5 years he has worked himself into being a top assistant coach in the NBA. He is well respected by players and has been the assistant coach of team USA.

RJ Barrett might be at the bottom of the top 3, but is also poised to become an NBA star. You could debate which teams could use his talents, but any team in the lottery would love to have him be their future Shooting Guard. RJ has extreme passion in his game and each level he has played he makes his teammates better. RJ was first noticed at a young age but the talent never left him. He lead Canada into a Gold Medal vs USA. His biggest mentor and godfather is Steve Nash, who has raved about his game.

With the NBA lottery coming up next Tuesday, I thought it would be cool to create a NBA mock draft which will include the TOP 10 PICKS! I’m hoping you all tune in and remember these will just be predictions. If only I could to a fortune!
